The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission

  • blog

The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission involves a constellation of two polar orbit satellites located in the same solar synchronous orbit. Phased-apart satellites are at 180 °. Its goal is to monitor variability in land surface areas, and its wide slope width (290 km) and long revisit time (10 days at the equator with one satellite and 5 days with 2 satellites in cloudless conditions resulting in 2-3 days at medium latitudes) will support the monitoring of changes on the Earth’s surface. Coverage limits range between latitudes 56 ° south and 84 ° north.
